Dragon Ladies Don’t Weep
Dragon Ladies Don’t Weep is an experimental music performance that explores memory, time, loss, and control. It combines spoken and recorded text, projected images, and original music from prepared piano, toy piano, toys, and percussion by New York-based Singaporean pianist Margaret Leng Tan and long-term collaborator Erik Griswold.
The poster colours drew inspiration from a dragon, with a bright palette that reflects the fun, playful, and experimental approach to the performance. The composition subtly mimics Oriental window frames, hinting at traditional Asian aesthetics while maintaining a contemporary experimental feel. In contrast, the descending typography of the Chinese title mimics the movement of a falling tear, symbolizing loss, nostalgia, and the passage of time.
