Keep On Keeping On

One of the nicest things to happen during the pandemic lockdown was to receive an invitation by the National Arts Council to take part in Streets of Hope, a meaningful project to create a poster that would lift the spirits of Singaporeans during this unprecedented time together.

Our poster is inspired by Curtis Mayfield’s song of the same title, ‘Keep On Keeping On’, where the chorus goes,

Many think that we have blown it
But they too will soon admit
That there’s still a lot of love among us
And there’s still a lot of faith, warmth and trust
When we keep on keeping on

And the last verse beautifully ends with,

Today it’s sorrow
Look like joy tomorrow
Keep on keeping on

It’s a song about solidarity and the hope that tomorrow brings, which is what we all need now.

The artwork comprises bold typography for the title and an illustration of a character, that’s literally full of heart, kissing its muscular bicep – a symbol of strength and love. Deliberately minimalist, the lamppost poster will be easy for drivers to grasp.
