Speak Mandarin Campaign Notebook 2017
The nationwide Speak Mandarin Campaign has been promoting the use of Mandarin in Singapore since 1979. This year, we worked with the Promote Mandarin Council to publish a Mandarin tip notebook, 华语小贴士, with handy tips on easily confused characters and words.
The tips contributed by the students from River Valley High School were structured into digestible single page illustrations. For example, polyphone (多音字) characters were cleverly strung together into one sentence, showcasing its various pronunciations. The illustrations were also carefully drawn to visually explain different characters, pronunciation, and meaning.
The books have since been distributed through schools and at public events. The tips have also been adapted into vibrant eye-catching posts for social media.
